ASU design students explore the Cox Collaboratory

The Cox Collaboratory is known around campus as a space for collaboration, exploration and discovery with ASU faculty and industry experts. Last week, the Collaboratory was thrilled to welcome students into the space. ASU Professor and Head of Industrial Design faculty Dosun Shin brought his class from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts to tour the Collaboratory and learn more about the opportunity to have their original artwork prominently displayed in the space through the upcoming Student Design Contest.

During the tour, Cox Collaboratory’s Growth Manager, Angela Saurini, gave a presentation about the Collaboratory’s mission to accelerate new ideas that deliver on the promise of human-centered smart solutions for our communities. Saurini also taught the students about the infrastructure and amenities of the laboratory and collaborative space located in Skysong.

To end the tour, Saurini invited the students to return to the Collaboratory often, as a place to work on future projects, collaborate and work.

Saurini will work with students from Professor Shin’s class to design a mural-styled vinyl wrap that will be printed and fixed to the Collaboratory’s interior wall. The group of students will work closely with the Collaboratory staff on the design, which will showcase the work of Cox and ASU. It will be on display at the Collaboratory’s Open House event, which is scheduled for later this year. Learn more about the Student Design Contest.
